HOW TO GET TO THE “I” IN “I DO”

Oct 24, 2018 | Relationships

I’ve had so many clients who are desperate to find a partner, get married and live happily ever after.  Often it is because they don’t want to be alone…with themselves and because of that, they have never gotten to know themselves.  The question I ask is, “How can you authentically pledge yourself to someone when you don’t even know WHO you are pledging?  Your WHO determines your WHAT so you don’t even know WHAT you are pledging?”  If you haven’t learned how to get to know yourself, you won’t know how to get to know anyone else especially a life partner.  If you don’t know how to be alone, you’re going to have great difficulty knowing how to be WITH another.

T.D. Jakes says it best: “You must know the I in I do before you make the commitment to love for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, forever.” FOREVER is a very, very long time when you don’t know who you are.  And it’s a long time to spend with someone you don’t really know because you don’t even know yourself.

The Sooner The Better

Because you’re always changing, getting to know who you are is a life-long endeavor and the earlier you start, the better.  Get the basics at least, and the rest is tweaking as you go.  If you’re single, date yourself (spend time doing things alone), become the best version of YOU that you can be and you will attract the same in a partner (like really does attract like).  Know the value of what you are bringing to the partnership. Knowing your value and your values will enable you to create and maintain effective boundaries regarding who you allow the honor of spending time with you, especially if it’s a lifetime.

 Here’s How To Start

I take my clients through a process that gives them the tools to know who they are and live authentically successful and fulfilling lives because their inner experience matches their outer expression, which includes those they attract into their lives. Schedule your FREE EXPLORATORY SESSION here.  I promise, there will be no hard sell.  I have no personal attachment to the outcome of our conversation beyond your feeling better for our having had it.
